If your dogs are anything like my own, then they have a pretty hefty appetite and buying expensive treats from the pet stores and supermarket just hasn’t been working for me. They are too expensive to buy frequently and with the recent scare with poisoned pet food, I finally decided to try making my own treats for my dogs.

I found a few great free recipes online, but I found it much easier to just purchase “Breakthrough Dog Food Recipes Revealed”. I’m honestly a skeptical person when it comes to buying products (especially books) off the internet, but I was pleasantly surprised with the amount of information discussed and all of the great recipes provided.

This book has over 60 recipes for homemade dog treats and the best part is that they are organized and easy to follow. Making dog treats for your dog is not only easier on my wallet, but it’s healthier for my dogs too. The book explains how modern day packaged dog treats have all sorts of chemicals and preservatives in them that could be harming your dog. It talked about the recent pet food contamination where 100’s of pets died and points out all of the benefits of making your own dog food.

Overall I would have to give “Breakthrough Dog Food Recipes Revealed” 4.5 out of 5 stars. This book provides a great value at just $17 and has plenty of dog food recipes to try. I haven’t gone through them all yet, but my dogs have devoured every one that I have. If you are serious about making your own dog treats then this is a must own book.
